Of Flowers and Photos

Hello all!
My wonderful photography teacher and the beginning of Spring have created a canvas for me to take photos now! And where better than this blog to post them? My summer resolution (I have those now...) is to take as many photos as I possibly can, and upload the pretty ones here. So far, I've taken two photos I'm especially proud of, so here they are.

There's tons of bees around my school this time of year.
I was lucky enough to catch one resting on this flower

Flowers! I love flowers :)
I love flowers.

Walk to Cure Cancer 2011

This year, Latin Club will be participating in a Walk to Cure Cancer sponsored by UMass Worcester. We are trying to raise as much money as possible for this cause, and when there, we want to show as much spirit as possible. The goal of the walk is to enjoy ourselves doing something that is worthy, and that will help people. We can continue to raise money until December, and will use the time to the best of our abilities.

Cancer is something that affects millions of people. 11.7 million Americans had Cancer presently or in the past in 2007. 1,596,670 people are estimated to be diagnosed with the disease this year, and more than 1,500 people are expected to die of it a day. And that's only in America.

We, as a club, want to be able to do what we can. At the moment, we may not be bio-engineers or chemists, but we do have the ability to sponsor those who are. We have the ability to go to UMass at 8am and register, so we can walk. We have the ability to donate money to those who are, or buy products that give all money to this cause. All of us can do something as little as walk a mile, or buy a bracelet, put a penny in a change jar- and thus have the ability to help save a life. Help Latin club donate to this cause, and now that you have helped a person who has cancer- and a family who lives knowing a loved one can die any moment.
Thank you.

Randomness

Co-Wrote with my fellow blogger Eliza Joy Mendoza. (Hi! Tani's computer spazzed and the draft before this one died... her typing is weird sometimes...when typing the word "blogger" she typed, "bloo"...hehehe....BLOOGER!!!!)
Anything she says will be in parentheses and green. And Blooger was a typo, Liza.
(Tani is very posessive of her laptop.....and typos are funny sometimes :P )
You spelled possessive wrong.
(see? typos! YAY! I blame Chipotle)
We went to Chipotle today. It was delicious. I loved it. We ate burritos. I had a Barbacoa one, and she had a chicken one.
By the way, do you know what Liza said just now? "I want a pet lizard" . I just looked at her funny. It was kind of random. She already has a doggy, Melaurie. Is Mel not good enough for you now Liza?
(By the way, Tani called me a chicken )
She's a cannibal!!!
(I AM NOT A CHICKEN. I should know. I love my dog!!! I meant in the future....like the way future...I keep misspelling future....stupid u's...hmm....I can't spell stupid without a u....hmmm....stpid....that would sound weird...STPID....tani is now tugging the laptop..bye)
Got it, okay. Guess who's spazzing more, me or Ms. Stpid over there? By the way, the chicken thing was because we read this adorable picture book about a little girl who's evil older sisters told her she was a chicken. Yeah. Moving on! Ummm... BUNNY!
Adorable Bunny from http://www.thebunnycamp.co.uk
Yups! Isn't it adorable? Eliza wasted a whole page on my notepad (the real one, not the virtual one) writing random stuff. Like "Green! no, BLUE!" or "BUNNIEZ" which is very bad grammar :)
(hehehe....I am SPAZZING....here are some random stuff: Bunny! forty-two 75 pie pies apples melaurie celtics 97 MERLIN morgana arthurian legend....hmph..tani is al ready starting to tug on the laptop...she is now slapping me and hitting the backspace button....she now refuses to talk. hmph. :P)`
SHE HURT ME. IT HUUUUUUURT. REAL BAD. I just wanted to talk about Merlin... :'(
(She kept hitting the backspace button *insert battle of backspace button*)
SO YOU HURT ME????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!???!!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!?!?!?!
(wow...all it took was a pinkie promise...then again
YOU CAN NEVER *EVER* BREAK A PINKIE PROMISE. NEVER!)
This is true. This is something I agree with. And a pinkie promise made me happiful again!!! :) :D :) :D :) :D
Oh dearsies. Now I'M spazzing. Look at what you've done Liza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tee hee...
(She is now bringing up Geometry! THE HORROR....THE HORROR!!!!! :P I don't like this keyboard sometimes.....I also don't like Geometry....Tani loves it.....Merlin!)
Tee hee... it took her like 15 tries to get the :P right... first she was like :p :O :p :o :O :p :o :P. HEHE. Also, Liza, I think they could tell by your "the horror... the horror!!!" that you didn't like geometry. I don't see why. It's fun! Assume temporarily that the word Merlin was not random. Then Merlin would be repeated before in the same conversation. However, this contradicts a given that Merlin was NOT repeated before in the same conversation. Therefore, Merlin was random. :) Eliza was glaring at me and trying not to crack up simultaneously. It was amusing. Now SHE is tugging the laptop from ME. Farewell!
(Now she is singing....she sings a lot! See, Geometry? Not fun for me! I forgot what I was going to type...now I remember! I had to crack up...because if I hold it in....I end up sounding like a donkey)
Eliza has a flat nose. I know cause I just poked it. Like POKE. It was rather squishy too. Now we're both singing Once Upon a December from the movie Anastasia. It is an epic song AND an epic movie!!
We were also both off key on the last Once upon a December, and we both came in early.
Now we both have the random urge to do Jumping Jacks. be right back!
*40 Jumping Jacks Later*
Back to left align! Here's another epic Anastasia song!

Now we're listening to my playlist! Yay!
Here is a random thing by two actors of Merlin... It's them spazzing. Like us except more British. And they're older. And, you know, not teenage girls. But other than that, exactly like us.
By the way, I'm psychic. Back to you, Liza, with this evening's weather report!
(This post is huge. Tonight, I predict it will be DARK....you know, like most nights are....I blame Shebati for the above video....fanfiction....)
Tee hee.
(Tani, when will this post end?)
Right about.... now.

Adios people, fortunate or unfortunate depending on your Point of View! For now...
(Valvete!)
Really Eliza, Really? Latin? Anyways, Farewell! Talk to ya'll later!

With Love, and sparkles and spazziness,
Tani and Eliza

Bookworm

The Library. Such a wonderful, wonderful place. Full of books, enrichment, and shelves and shelves of books to read- and check out- and shelve. Do you ever wonder who shelves those books? Who shelves the insane amount of DVD's people check out every single day?

Well folks, for this Summer you do know who- It has been me. I have been volunteering at my local library and shelving the countless books and movies you people return. It's actually been pretty fun. I volunteer in the children's section, so I get to watch the adorable little kids toddle around, and talk to each other. I also hear very interesting conversations. Here's one example: (Note: Spelling mistake is to show their diction)

A Conversation Between Two Little Silly Children
Kid One: "What do yuu wanna be when yuu gow up?"
  Kid Two: "I dunno"
Kid One: "Well I wanna be a Pesidant. [Presidant]"
Kid Two: "I dunno what I wanna be"
~They play happily for some time, before they open a picture book about divers~
Kid Two: "I know! I wants to be a diver!"
~Kid One is not happy about this. This job is better than his! How dare he usurp his brilliant claim! Wait... he has an idea...~
Kid One: self importantly "WELL, I'll ONLY be a Pesidant if I get into Yale. If I get inta Pinceton [Princeton] or Harvard, I'll be a diver. Otherwise, I'll be an aachitect [architect].
Kid Two: Not caring much Okay!
Kid One: Is slightly put out by Kid Two's lack of caring, but goes back to playing anyways
That was just one conversation I overheard. I thought it was adorable and slightly creepy how he was
talking about Yale... Oh well!

According to my Mother, I live at the library now. I shelve, I do the summer program with the little kids,
and I read. I read a lot. I've read a lot of picture books... they're so good! ;)
I've been there, so much, even the librarian is suggesting to me that I go out into the sun and play.
"After all, it's Summer!"
pshh... no. I went into a corner and read some more :)
Adorable cartoon of toddler with book

So, that's basically what I've been doing this Summer. More will come up soon! I promise!

Farewell for now,
Tani

Artemis!

Hello!
For 5 weeks this Summer, I have been participating in a Summer Camp called the Artemis Project. It is basically a computer science camp for girls.

It took place in BU and taught us various things, like Robotics, HTML, CSS, Python and more! We were visited by various guest speakers like Professors from BU or Representatives from companies like Raytheon and Google. We also went on various field trips to places like the Broad, IBM, Microsoft New England Research and Development Center, and more. It was a lot of fun!

The Robots we made to fight each other...

There, I met new people, learned a lot, and saw what girls can do in Computer Science. It was a wonderful experience, and I definitely recommend it for anybody who has the slightest interest in Comp Sci, or is curious to see what it details. This year, because of generous sponsors, it was free other than an initial entrance fee. It was also the first year running the program at BU. It was run by 5 students who go to BU themselves. The program originated at Brown, and one of the coordinators, Katherine, went to the Brown program last year. The program also provides free lunch :) .

Basically, this is a fun Summer Camp for anybody who wants to learn, go on field trips around Boston, or wants free lunch for 5 weeks ;). For more information, go to the following website.  To look at the website I made, go to the second link. It's about Movies! :)

Revival

Hello there! I have realized one very drastic mistake- I have not uploaded my blog in 11 months.
Oops.

Now, there's a lot one does in 11 months, and this post can be about a lot of things. It can be peppered with excuses (school! finals! 13 classes! camp! school! school?) but I'm sure you've heard that already. So, I shall make this a small post, basically saying one thing- I have returned.

I have changed my blog a lot too. In my opinion, it looks much prettier. Now, I shall post this and then post a big post about my summer.

For now, I leave you with a picture of a rose my friend Eliza took. I love this picture, so I had to post it.

With my sincerest, deepest, most dramatic apologies,
Tani

Walk to Cure Cancer

On Sunday, September 26 of this year, there's going to be a walk to cure cancer at UMass medical School Campus (53 lake Avenue North, Worcester, MA). There's one 5 mile walk, and an optional 1 mile walk which I'm doing.

This is the 12th annual one, and they are trying to get each participant to raise $200 from sponsors. The overall goal is $1,000,000. You can go as a team, or by yourself. The official website is http://www.walktocurecancer.org That's where you can register and get a fundraising sheet. I'm definitely going, and hopefully I can actually raise some money from neighbors.

Enjoy,
Tani
